Do you know what the month of April is?

April is National Poetry Month! I look forward to this month every year because it is a time when poetry events can be easily found at libraries, colleges, ect. Is it enough, you may ask? 30 days a year to honor talented poets and give them the recognition they deserve. Not hardly, in my opinion. However it is a start. So in honor of the art of poetry remember to check out a book of poems or two at your local library. Or purchase a book of poems at your nearby bookstore. This helps to create awareness that people do value the poets work and encourage libraries and bookstores to continue to provide this genre to their community. Parents can read rhymes and children’s poetry to their children, which will encourage a life long appreciation for this written art.
